195classint.jpgThe new development at 195 Classon Avenue (which you may recall had an ugly bout with Mother Nature last October) sure stands out from the other the rest of the brick houses and old factories on the block between Myrtle and Park. After trying to market and sell the 6-story, 10-unit building on its own for the past few weeks, the developer just decided to give the listing to Corcoran. There’s nothing up on the Corcoran site yet but the developer told us when we called that prices range from $699,000 for a first-floor unit to $900,000 for a penthouse with wrap terrace. We don’t have strong feelings about the design either way, other than not particularly caring for the big round arch over the entrance and thinking that there must be good light and views. It also looks like the new building going up at 159 Classon at the corner of Park won’t be much to look at.

  1. I have passed this building and I feel the designer has done a wonderful job of collaborating old style Brooklyn in a new building. This is the only new development that has maintained Brooklyn’s classic architechture.

  2. Walked by this thing a month ago- hiddeous. That arch and the lobby? The architect must have just come off designing some bad doctors suite building in a suburban mall- truely bizzare in its awfullness. And the mullions and glass- very low quality. All in all- looks like a cheap piece of garbage.

  3. 4th fl. floorplans show a Master Bedroom and a Bed Room [sic]. Is that an error, or somekind or new real estate speak? (i.e. this condo is so cool, we’re going to deconstruct the word “bedroom”.)

  4. This is not far from trains. It is 3 long blocks up Classon to the G at Classon and Lafayette. It’s about .3 miles, which is no different from the walk to subways in a lot of other neighborhoods, including central Park Slope. I welcome buildings like this to the area!

  5. so what if the block is crappy and near the BQE. Hello? Remember the meat packing district? Soho? with enough capital ANYPLACE can become “hot.” and the juxtapositioning of the truly hideous with the truly sleek and modern can also be appealing for many.
