The big question is will it even get finished in this environment.

The worst part about this is Soda’s back garden is ruined.
landmarking is a good thing b/c there is no alternative in NYC.
It wouldnt be difficult to come up w/ a regulatory system that prevents ridiculous developments like this but allows homeowners the freedom to replace windows w/o govt approval.
yeah, i look at that bldg and am reminded of why landmark designation is overall a good thing, despite its drawbacks. it would be an interesting study to see what happens to the brownstones next to this new building in comparison to similar buildings within the designated area.

I happen to live directly across from this place. It seems hugely out of step with the block. Of note…over the summer when folks in PH were getting a petition together to make it a historic district, they left out my block saying “we don’t know what happened over there…” I signed it anyway. Ouch.
That thing looks like something out of Lord of the Rings, or perhaps rather an old nesesis of Godzilla. Either way, I swear it looks like it’s about to go and take a bite out of something.

I will think about this picture the next time I want to complain about the hassle of being in an historic district.
it gets finished because it’s actually in real prospect heights, not broker world prospect heights.
It’s always nice when the zoning keeps things in context with the existing neighborhood.
