When we checked in eight months ago on the 10-story new development at 892 Bergen Street in Crown Heights the exterior had just started getting bricked up. Now the whole things looking pretty darned near done, save for some landscaping. Anyone know what the plan is for this place or who will have the listing?

  1. I agree with caseopele about that being too pricey to live near a drug rehab center. I remember when my friend told me the rehab center that was across the street from us on St. Marks moved into our building (there’s business space available), I darn near almost passed out. Turns out she was mistaken. The neighborhood is changing though, a lot of good shops/restaurants on Franklin Ave now. Though our hubcaps got stolen forcing us to go for the parking option in our building. It’s just like anywhere else, a Section 8 building next to a new condo development, next to a run down open lot. Take the Ishi on our street for example, it’s right across the street from what I believe is a Section 8 building, talk about rubbing it in their faces, has anyone seen that place and it’s amenities?? It really is nice. What a surprise the Ishi’ers will get come summertime when the Section 8’ers have their barbeques outside practically on the street blasting music or when the biker club at the corner of Franklin blocks off St. Marks to have their block party, lol, or when the Church congregation uses the sidewalk for parking on Sundays, I can hardly wait! I guess they can always retreat to their oasis in the back and put in earplugs! Back to this 892 building, we have a good view of it from our balcony and we always liked it, primarily because it had balconies, then when we saw the glass finish, we liked it even more. We have become spoiled, after having a balcony now, we kind of want one wherever else we move to! BUT 600K?! Ummm, no. Wait until those 600K people see and hear the people living in that big building across the street closer to Classon, we have a good view of them too, summertime, every person blasts their own music for the whole neighborhood to hear and they’re yelling from their windows, and based on the backyards we also have an unfortunate view of on Bergen, with this poor dog going in and out the window, junk all over the place, I would hate to see the tenants close-up…ewwwwwwww. It’s embarassing when we entertain guests in the summer because that is the first thing they notice! Soon enough they will manage to get rid of all the low-income housing and put their tenants somewhere else, that is what people are thinking when they spend 600K on a condo next to a drug rehab center…a sacrifice for their future.

I hope the 892 and Ishi tenants are prepared to hear the Shuttle train all day and night too…did I mention we’re also under a flight path? Planes all day and night, but those are things you get used to and don’t even notice after a while 😉

  2. Too funny, fsrq! Thankfully, altervoce and snarkslope rose to the occasion. I, too, like this building and think it provides some cheer to an area with a sometimes dismal, industrial feel.
