It’s not open to the public yet, but according to one tipster (who goes on Twitter by @steadyblogging), the interior is now visible from the 2/3 turnstiles. Very futuristic—in a 1980s kind of way.

  1. Will the refurbished station still have the delightful scent of urine? Will it still rain underground? My guess is yes. These are just aesthetic changes. Money well spent, I suppose. But all is for the best!

  2. Oh, FRSQ, likewise, relax…follow your own advice. What do you want us to write? “Love, love, love!!!” as you can find on interior design/apartment blogs which I won’t name? Look, there’s a smattering of positive comments and negative comments and discussions in the middle.

In the case of the entrance/entryway to the LIRR/subway/Ratner mall, I think we’re all safe pointing out that this project has so far taken way too long and inconvenienced commuters, pedestrians and the people in the community for much longer than necessary…

I think the thing on the wall is kind of funny, although a touch trendy…and not in keeping with the overall design aesthetic. In view of the length of time it the project is taking, this does, in fact, seem like a big waste of materials and time to install. I had hoped this entryway would have been big and airy. Had no idea a big gray, faceted blob would be hanging over the atrium space. Is that laminated granite? Or synthetic? I wouldn’t have minded seeing one of those green wall installations. They can be spectacular.
