Last month it was announced that be@schermerhorn had gotten a life-line in the form of new investor Jamestown Properties. Even better for the original developer, SDS Procida, Jamestown was going to let it stay on and run the relaunch. Yesterday came word that work had restarted on the finishing touches (it’s more than 90 percent complete according to the press release) required to get a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy for the 246-unit building. That should be welcome news to Brooklyn Fare across the street; maybe if some people move into be@schermerhorn the gourmet food market will be able to pay us our long-overdue invoice for advertising.

  1. Is it just me or this article had nothing to do with Be@Schermerhorn and was just a clever cover to make a public comment on a personal grievance?

No wonder I don’t visit here much. I wonder what business will be the next to be publicly flogged (rightly or otherwise)?

  2. Yeah, boo for the unpaid invoice dig.
I’d rather s/he not pay your invoice and continue to buy stuff needed to, like, stay in business …

  3. From a distance, it’s not a bad looking building, certainly better than the Toren and the Brooklyner look on the outside. Yeah, yeah, I know, you’re not gonna live on the outside of the building, but, owners/renters aside, the rest of us still have to look at these eyesores.

  4. I am a long time reader of Brownstoner. I have never posted before, but your public chastisement of Brooklyn Fare regarding an unpaid invoice motivate me to write. Brooklyn Fare is a great addition to our neighborhood. The owner is a local guy providing a needed service that benefits us all. I have no idea if your claim of an unpaid bill is legitimate, but I think mentioning it here was a classless act that says more about your integrity than Brooklyn Fare’s.

  5. It’s too bad that you can’t put a period in a web address.

Because it would be so awesome if Markowitz actually bought a $145 million home. I would spend my weekend on Brownstoner speculating about where the real estate kick backs came from.

My wife would leave me, but it would be a fun few days.
