Sterling Green, the environmentally-conscious new development at 580 Sterling Place in Prospect Heights, is sold out as of last month. According to StreetEasy, the last of the eight units went into contract just before Thanksgiving. A couple of the units had their prices reduced modestly throughout the sales process, but overall the project was able to buck the price-cutting trend that has dominated this year. Impressive.

  1. “Is it just me, or is this building just a notch above a fedders condo, in terms of aesthetics???”

    Yes, but it has one big advantage aesthetically va Fedders in that the exterior brick is the right color, instead of the yellow or orange crap so prevalent for new construction.

  2. I was wondering how they fit 8 units in that place: there are 6 studios and 2 one bedrooms. Might as well install a revolving door on the front to handle the constant turnover.

  3. DIBS;

    People mis-understand my position on Fedders.

    I never claimed that they were aesthetically pleasing.

    My claim is that it is sound housing, and there is a market for them. Therefore, they have a right to “exist”.

    I wonder if it will get a pass on this site, however, because the developers have marketed it as “green”??
