The high-turnover restaurant space at the corner of Smith and Pacific Streets has been boarded up since last month and we gather that interior work is underway. After receiving this photo from a tipster earlier today, we now know that the roof is getting a makeover as well. “It was a nasty and warped roof before, often a storage place for random items and not to mention a breeding pool for insects during the summer as it was constant standing water,” writes the tipster.

  1. I thought Gravy was decent, but everything after that was crap. I’ve never eaten at Pacifico, and probably never will, just based on the menu. Pacific Pizza was actually REALLY good, if you like thin crust. The owners of that spot are idiots. Every time I ordered from Pacific Pizza, they were busy (sometimes, so much so, they couldn’t do a delivery!). I can’t figure out why they closed that tiny portion of the huge space they have.

  2. I heard that this space is being warehoused with adjacent plot for future development. I heard that the owners are buying time before the whole block is demo’d and redeveloped.

  3. What Pete and ENY said. There’s a reason we called it Ratifico. A rat the size of a Buick came lumbering out from under the table next to us just as soon as we sat down. Good thing Snappy didn’t see it.
