86 Lorraine Street, the corner development across from both the Red Hook Projects and the Ball Parks, is looking close to completion. The smaller portion fronting on Hicks Street was almost finished when we checked in back in June, but now the section on the Lorraine side is done as well. We’re pretty curious to find out how these will be marketed, but haven’t uncovered anything yet.

  1. when i used to live across the street from tenements that would put those elaborate rooftop penthouses on the top of them i used to get very angry, and very annoyed at the neighborhood and what it’s turning into. i was like hmmm my rent is 725 a month right now i wonder how much longer i can stay here? fast forward a year and i was evicted so the new owners could turn tenement living into luxury living all within the same walls.

i’d imagine the people that live in the projects look at these types of things the same way. yeah amenities start to trickle into the neighborhood, but really nothing that one who has lived there for a long time can afford, nor even partake in with a straight face.

uber gentrification is a disgusting thing, and this is a prime example of it.

  2. This is in an even worse location than The Andrea at 218 Myrtle. At least The Andrea is close to Flatbush ave, Manhattan and the trains. I drove by this development a few weeks ago and its nice but its directly across the street from about 20 project buildings and the rest of it is surrounded by desolate ballfields and commercial parking lots. I think theres a supermarket up the street that I wouldn’t even park an armored truck in front of. It is quite a HIKE to the F train at smith and 9th and its not exactly a scenic walk to Ikea or Fairway either. GOOD LUCK to those that buy here!
