When it comes to curb cuttingand now price cuttingthe owner of 174 Clinton Avenue doesn’t mess around. Taking advantage of the 100-foot commercial overlay from nearby Myrtle Avenue and the fact that the house falls just outside the Clinton Hill Historic District, the owner (who’s also developing the lot behind this house) was able to get permits to butcher convert the front of the ground floor of the historic brownstone into a garage and to cut the curb for a driveway entrance. The theory was that the addition of the parking space would enhance the value on resale, we presume. Well, it couldn’t have helped that much: The asking price was axed last week from $2,500,000 to $1,990,000. Karma?

Who is the developer behind this? Not the LLC, the person who’s behind it. Anyone know?
11:58: People get jumped for there ipods everywhere. Is the whole city a ghetto?
My guess is you can’t afford to buy a house at today’s prices – even the reduced prices – in this area.
Now keep your fingers off the keyboard as instructed.
The What
Fed is meeting but you know Ben is going to pull some sort of a trick. This guy is still saying “what inflation”
Am I missing something? Is there an actual garage or just a driveway? It looks like you would have to dig down and slope the drive to go under the house into the partially below-grade garden floor. I don’t see that in the photos.
As to the ghetto-ness of the nabe, yes cars definitely get busted into and people get jumped for their ipod/phone here. That may not mean ghetto to you 11:34, but it does to some. I’d be willing to live in this area, but unwilling to pay $2M for the privilege.
tWhat, YOU are ghetto. The area you grew up in is no longer ghetto. Big difference.
Clinton Ave is a wonderful street to live on and it’s not nice to call people “fucknozzle”…
Has anyone seen the website for the building going up between Atlantic & Fulton? “30 meticulously planned residences” http://www.525collection.com
I like it better with the curb cut. I wish I could do that with my place.
“Clinton Avenue is not the ghetto or fringe. If you don’t know the area, keep your fingers off the keyboard.”
Oh yes it is fucknozzle! Just because dumbfucks overpay to live in the hood, that does not mean it’s “edgey”
BTW The FED is meeting right now! I hope stop lowing rates, so the Bond market can put a knife into this Mutant Real Estate Asset Bubble!
I wonder how much money this asshole has burn thru?! The fix up costs, the Mortgage, the commission and the curb cut! This guy fucked up a nice brownstone!!!!
The What
Someday this war is gonna end…
Clinton Avenue is not the ghetto or fringe. If you don’t know the area, keep your fingers off the keyboard.
