Last week the Concerned Citizens of Greenwood Heights brought word that the city has approved plans for a five-building development on 22nd Street and 7th Avenue. Way back in 2006, community members documented the shady and destructive demolitions at the site. Fast forward to 2010: According to Property Shark, the parcels changed hands in May, and Corcoran was, for a spell, marketing the not-yet-built project. Anyhow, the new plans are shown above; click on the image to enlarge it. As one member of the community wrote in an email last week: “I hope the builder is a better neighbor this time around.”

Certainly folks on that block, and my friends on 23rd St who have adjacent backyards, must be happy to have the vacant lot (since 2008?) turned into something. Whether cramming 5 more homes onto the street is the question.
While there’s a lack of single family homes being built (as seen by the 11 buildings finally selling around the corner), I wonder whether the quality of these buildings will be better than their brothers/sisters around the corner?
And I must agree with the quote…these guys better be better developers this time around. With so many adjacent properties, they are going to be watched very closely.
